Serbia – 1 July 2022

Rights activists say Serbia has broken the law by placing Kurdish activist Ecevit Piroglu in a de facto jail while pondering Ankara's demands for his extradition to Turkey to face terrorism charges. The full article can be found here.

Media experts say Albanian journalists are not getting the support they need from their news organisations after another incident in which Prime Minister Edi Rama lashed out verbally and barred a reporter from his press conferences. The full article can be found here.


Serbia – 5 July 2022

The Council of Europe’s Group of States against Corruption said in its latest report that further measures are needed to prevent corruption among top public servants in Serbia. The full article can be found here.


Kosovo – 6 July 2022

An arrest warrant for powerful Kosovo Serb businessman and politician Milan Radoicic is still valid and he should be detained if he has returned to Kosovo as media have reported, a prosecutor said. The full article can be found here.

EULEX has insisted that the financial settlement agreed by its former prosecutor turned whistleblower Maria Bamieh with the UK government does not have anything to do with the European rule-of-law mission in Kosovo because Bamieh’s corruption allegations against EULEX were dismissed four years ago. Bosnia and Herzegovina – 6 July 2022

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Constitutional Court has temporarily suspended the Law on Medicines of Republika Srpska while it considers its compatibility with the Bosnian constitution. The full article can be found here.

Kosovo – 7 July 2022

Kosovo police removed surveillance cameras in the southern Serb-majority municipality of Shterpce/Strpce, acting on the orders of the Ferizaj/Urosevac Basic court and prosecution. The full article can be found here.


Greece – 7 July 2022

The European Court of Human Rights ruled that Greece violated the European Convention of Human Rights over the sinking of a migrant boat in 2014 in which 11 asylum seekers, among them eight children, lost their lives. The full article can be found here.
