Serbia – 10 June 2022
American photographer Ron Haviv’s images of detention camps where prisoners were abused and killed during the 1992-95 Bosnian war have gone on display in the Serbian capital Belgrade. The full article can be found here.
Croatia – 14 June 2022
Serge Brammertz, the chief prosecutor at the UN’s International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in The Hague, told the Security Council in New York that Croatia is “taking political decisions to block the justice process” in 1990s war crimes cases. The full article can be found here.
Bulgaria – 14 June 2022
The European Court of Human Rights ruled that Bulgaria must pay compensation to Hristina Stoyanova, whose 26-year-old son was the victim of a homophobic murder in Sofia in September 2008. The full article can be found here.

The Albanian Bar Association said that lawyers will boycott court hearings at all levels for four days in protest against the new judicial map of the country, which was recently approved by the High Judicial Council. The full article can be found here.
Serbia – 16 June 2022
Serbia plans to prosecute four Croatian officers in their absence for air attacks on a convoy of fleeing refugees in 1995 – but experts say that because Zagreb is not cooperating with Belgrade, the case is likely to be flawed. The full article can be found here.

Albania – 16 June 2022
After facing uproar for rejecting a proposed parliamentary vote to condemn the Srebrenica genocide, Albania’s governing Socialist Party has put forward its own resolution for MPs to approve. The full article can be found here.

Albanian police arrested two suspects after finding 45 kilograms of cocaine in the Port of Durres hidden in a consignment of chicken from Brazil. One of the arrested, Egert Vargu, the ruling Socialist Party councilor in the Municipality of Tirana, was acting as a customs agent contracted by the company. The full article can be found here.
