Bosnia and Hercegovina – 3 June 2025
Defence lawyers for Ratko Mladic, who is serving a life sentence for genocide, asked the Hague court for his release, saying he has been transferred to palliative care and “his remaining life expectancy is measured in months”. The full article can be found here.

Bosnia and Hercegovina – 29 May 2025
The Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Hercegovina suspended all laws adopted by the assembly of the country’s Serb-led Republika Srpska entity in response to a first-instance verdict against the entity’s president, Milorad Dodik. The full article can be found here.
Serbia – 29 May 2025
Protesting Serbian students called off a two-week blockade of the Appeal Court in the city of Novi Sad after three more activists accused of plotting to overthrow the state were released from custody to house arrest. The full article can be found here.
Bosnia and Hercegovina – 29 May 2025
The House of Representatives in Bosnia’s Federation entity parliament on Wednesday amended the Criminal Code to formally recognise gender-based murder as a distinct crime. The changes still need to be confirmed by the other chamber, the House of People. The full article can be found here.

New war crimes indictments from Bosnia and Herzegovina concerning a group of Croatian officers drew an angry reaction from Croatian President Zoran Milanovic in a speech marking Croatian Army Day on May 28. The full article can be found here.
