Serbia – 28 January 2022
Environmental groups express delight following the report that German development bank KfW has abandoned plans to finance a hydropower plant near Zenica that NGOs said would damage the local environment. The full article can be found here.
Kosovo – 28 January 2022
The Kosovo Judicial Council has suspended judge Riza Livoreka from Kacanik after BIRN’s Kallxo Pernime show revealed footage of the judge illegally negotiating a deal between parties involved in a trial outside of court. The full article can be found here.
Kosovo – 29 January 2022
The pre-trial judge at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in Hague, Nicolas Guillou, extended detention for Hashim Thaci ahead of his trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed during the 1998-99 conflict in Kosovo. The full article can be found here.
Bosnia and Herzegovina – 31 January 2022
The Supreme Court in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Federation entity revoked the verdict convicting Veljko Papic, the former commander of the Third Company with the First Battalion of the Bosnian Serb Army’s Sarajevo-Romanija Corps, of crimes against the civilian population in Sarajevo’s Grbavica and Kovacici neighbourhoods during the Bosnian war.

Montenegro – 31 January 2022

Serbia – 1 February 2022
The Appeals Court in Belgrade upheld Dalibor Krstovic’s appeal and quashed the first-instance verdict convicting him of raping a female Bosniak prisoner while she was being detained at an elementary school in the Bosnian town of Kalinovik during the war. The full article can be found here.
Kosovo – 3 February 2022
Kosovo Police apprehended, then released, a cameraman in the southern town of Suhareke/Suva Reka after filming the eviction of a privatised company put under administration by the Kosovo Privatisation Agency, KPA. The full article can be found here.
