Bulgaria – 12 August 2025
Research shows that Bulgarian citizens are more vulnerable to disinformation than their European counterparts. Public opinion surveys point to a country deeply distrustful of authorities and susceptible to conspiratorial thinking. The full article can be found here.

The surprise August 1 arrests of former Serbian state officials, suspected of corruption, have so far raised more questions than answers. The public, sceptical about the possibility of an independent investigation into high-ranking members of the ruling party, is divided over whether this represents a genuine turning point. Bosnia and Herzegovina – 8 August 2025
Bosnian journalist Natasa Miljanovic Zubac, known for publishing material on organised crime and high-level corruption, will be questioned by prosecutors on Friday after being detained for the alleged crime of “disclosure of an official secret”. The full article can be found here.
Kosovo – 8 August 2025
Kosovo’s Constitutional Court gave MPs another 30 days to elect a speaker and constitute a parliament, but changed the terms for candidacies for the speaker’s post after months of political deadlock. The full article can be found here.
Montenegro – 7 August 2025
A man has been arrested in Montenegro over the unauthorised installation of a memorial to Pavle Djurisic, a 1940s Chetnik commander accused of masterminding massacres. The full article can be found here.
Slovenia – 6 August 2025
Slovenia has banned all imports from illegal Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territories as the first European country to do so after it imposed an arms embargo on Israel last week in what was another European first. The latest move is part of Slovenia's strategy to step up pressure on Israel due to its actions in Gaza. The full article can be found here.
