Serbia – 9 September 2025

The European People's Party (EPP) has decided to "initiate a scrutiny process" about associate membership of Aleksandar Vučić's Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), EPP President Manfred Weber announced on Tuesday. The full article can be found here.

 

Bulgaria – 9 September 2025

The European Court of Human Rights, ECHR, in Strasbourg ruled on Tuesday that Bulgaria had failed to investigate graphic threats made on Facebook against three human rights activists in connection with their professional practices. The full article can be found here.

 

Romania – 9 September 2025

Romania’s anti-organised crime prosecution, DIICOT, began questioning Alexandru Balan, 47, former deputy head of Moldova’s intelligence service, who is suspected of spying for Belarus. The full article can be found here.

 

Serbia – 8 September 2025

In today’s press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Beate Meinl-Reisinger, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos took stock of the state of the enlargement process, with especially critical remarks regarding the situation in Serbia. Moldova – 8 September 2025

Greece has agreed to extradite the fugitive Moldovan oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc back to his home country, but his return has yet to be confirmed. The full article can be found here.

 

Kosovo – 5 September 2025

Kosovo’s Constitutional Court prohibited any further action by MPs in parliament to constitute a government until September 30, following a complaint filed by the Belgrade-backed party, Srpska Lista. The full article can be found here.

 

Bosnia and Herzegovina – 4 September 2025

The US is urging the revocation of the citizenship of Slobodan Letic, a Bosnian war crime suspect. Assistant US Attorney General Brett Shumate stated that the United States is not a safe haven for war criminals or human rights violators, adding that granting Letic US citizenship was an injustice that must be corrected. Serbia – 2 September 2025

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that cooperation with Moscow in all areas is very important for Belgrade. The full article can be found here.
